Endorsement Program

The Endorsement Program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation of knowledge for working with children of specific ages (infants/toddlers and preschoolers). Successful completion of these courses can fulfill annual licensing requirements and can be used to meet the training requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. An Infant/Toddler Endorsement or Preschool Endorsement can be an entry-level credential for employment in the early childhood field, a demonstration of knowledge working with those age groups, or a supplement to other degrees/credentials that are not in the field of early childhood.

For the Infant/Toddler Endorsement, participants have two options for successful completion. For option 1, participants will complete 12 courses through the Infant Toddler Specialist Network and demonstrate an understanding of infant and toddler care and education through written multiple choice examinations and practical assessments. For option 2, participants will complete CHD 166- Infant and Toddler Programs through a Virginia Community College and submit their transcript demonstrating their passing score. For a schedule of courses through Infant Toddler Specialist Network, contact Mary Sheldon at marys@cdr.org or (757) 378-3172.

For the Preschool Endorsement, participants will complete CHD 120- Introduction to Early Childhood Education through a Virginia Community College and submit their transcript demonstrating their passing score.
